Blackstone’s Aypa Power, formerly East Bay Community Energy (EBCE), has secured a California BESS agreement and Texas tax exemption. Ava, a Californian not-for-profit Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) power provider, will provide Ava with 100MW/400MWh of energy arbitrage capability and RA from its standalone 400MW/1,600MWh San Gabriel Storage facility. The company selected Ava’s project as part of its joint long-term resource RFO, launched in 2023 alongside San Jose Clean Energy. Avypa also secured an offtake agreement for its Gabriel project with Central Coast Community Energy. London-based clean energy company Octopus Energy plans to invest US$2 billion in the US renewables industry by 2030.
