Bipartisan lawmakers reintroduce National Prescribed Fire Act to enhance prescribed fire use on federal lands.

Lawmakers from the Senate and House are reintroducing bipartisan legislation to increase the use of prescribed fire in and around federal lands. The National Prescribed Fire Act, S. 4424, would create prescribed fire accounts at the Forest Service and the Interior Department, and create a collaborative program to fund prescribed fire projects around the country. The House version, H.R. 8557, is led by Reps. Kim Schrier (D-Wash) and David Valadao (R-Calif).
