Billionaire pipeline mogul, Kelcy Warren, has invested $5 million in the campaign to elect former President Donald Trump to another term in the White House. The investment could prove profitable for his company, Energy Transfer, as a Department of Energy under a second Trump administration could reinstitimize the company’s natural gas export project in Louisiana. The oil and gas industry has given more money to Trump than any other industries, according to campaign finance tracking site OpenSecrets. Warren and his wife, Amy, have contributed nearly $28 million to federal candidates and nearly $7 million to Texas candidates since 2010. The prospect of Vice President Kamala Harris winning the presidency could further threaten the status quo for the oil and natural gas industry.
