Biden’s 2025 budget plan boosts clean energy funding but falls short of previous year’s ambitious proposals.

President Joe Biden’s fiscal 2025 budget plan would continue investments in clean energy development, but some of its numbers are more modest than the previous request or would implement cuts. The Department of Energy would receive $51.4 billion, about $1.15 billion more than the fiscal 2024 levels, but about $600 million less than what the White House proposed last year. The budget plan includes $10.6 billion for climate and clean energy research, development, demonstration and deployment programs, less ambitious than the nearly $12 billion included in Biden’s 2024 budget request. The White House’s plan would support innovation for the energy economy, advance basic research and scientific infrastructure, support national energy and environmental justice goals.
