Biden Launches Climate Campaign Ahead of Election, Aiming to Solidify Environmental Achievements and Protect Public Lands.

President Joe Biden is leading an administrationwide campaign to cement his climate and conservation record with just seven months left until the presidential election. Major environmental initiatives are expected, including expanding national monuments in California, releasing a rule to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, and concluding unraveling changes to the nation’s bedrock environmental law. The move comes as agencies face a deadline for insulating rules against potential Trump administration rollbacks and as Biden considers using his executive authority to protect public lands. The White House has touted Biden’s conservation record, including protecting more than 26 million acres of lands and waters. Since taking office, Biden has used Earth Day to highlight his environmental initiatives.
