Biden-Harris Administration Invests Nearly $2 Billion to Revitalize Auto Industry and Create Thousands of Union Jobs.

The Biden-Harris Administration has announced nearly $2 billion to support American Auto Workers and convert 11 shuttered or at-risk auto manufacturing and assembly facilities across eight states to manufacture electric vehicles. The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced that these investments will create and retain thousands of good-paying union jobs and support the American auto communities that have driven the U.S. economy for generations. The Domestic Auto Manufacturing Conversion Grants program is funded by the Inflation Reduction Act and aims to expand manufacturing of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty electrified vehicles and components. If awarded, these projects would create over 2,900 new high-quality jobs and ensure over 15,000 highly skilled union workers are retained across all eleven facilities.
