President Joe Biden has expanded a pair of national monuments in California, adding 120,000 acres to the 41 million acre total pledged by the administration. The expansion was signed at a private ceremony at the White House and encouraged by Democratic lawmakers and tribal nations. This expansion follows Biden’s use of the Antiquities Act of 1906 to create five monuments in his first term and restore over 2 million acres of lands to a pair in Utah that had been removed by the Trump administration.
