Battery manufacturing projects in the US face delays as economic challenges impact IRA funding initiatives.

The Financial Times (FT) has reported that key battery manufacturing projects initiated in response to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which proposed a $369 billion injection into the US clean energy economy, are facing setbacks due to economic headwinds. The FT found that $84bn worth of projects worth more than $100m have been delayed for between two months and several years, or indefinitely. LG Energy Solution’s $2.3 billion battery storage facility in Arizona is on a construction suspension after being quadrupled from its first announcement.
