Avangrid launches Texas solar plant, signs PPA with Meta, and is acquired by Iberdrola for $2.55 billion.

Avangrid has begun producing power from a 321MWdc solar PV plant in Texas, its largest solar power plant in its portfolio and its first project in Texas. The company signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with social media and data giant Meta to supply one of Meta’s new data centres in Temple City, Texas. This is part of a larger project that includes the installation of modules at the 202MWdc/150MWac Powell Creek project in Putnam County, Ohio. Avangrid was fully acquired by Spanish utility Iberdrola in May 2024 for a total of US$2.551 billion. Following the transaction, shares in Avangrad will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.
