Avangrid Acquires Mobile Transformer from Hitachi Energy to Expedite Outage Recovery at Renewable Energy Facilities

Avangrid has acquired a 168 MVA mobile transformer from Hitachi Energy to help the company resolve outages in the event of a damaged transformer faster than the two-year lead time for a replacement. The mobile transformer can be deployed and installed within a couple of months to Avangrid’s onshore wind and solar facilities due to its multi-voltage capabilities. The transformer’�s technology allows for a low profile and the ability to withstand higher-than-normal transport accelerations, and also helps bring energy production back online while replacement equipment is procured.
