Clean energy multinational Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure plc (NASDAQ:AY) has signed two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) for its Coso Batteries 1 and 2 energy storage projects in California, with the off-taker being an unnamed investment grade utility. The contracts represent a tolling agreement under which the batteries will receive fixed monthly payments adjusted by the financial settlement of CAISO’s day-ahead market. The two batteries will be located at Atlants’ Coso geothermal power plant in California. The company expects Coso Battersies 1 (100 MWh) and 2 (80-MWh), which have been under construction since last year, to begin operations in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
