Arati Prabhakar: Pioneering AI Safety and Climate Solutions as Nation’s Top Science Adviser and Innovator.

Arati Prabhakar, the nation’s top science adviser and head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, is tasked with ensuring the safety of artificial intelligence and climate solutions. Her work includes creating guidelines for artificial intelligence, a presidential executive order and a long-awaited AI Bill of Rights, which outlines steps companies can take to protect the public from AI’s potential dangers. Additionally, she has helped establish a new health research agency, advanced low-carbon technologies, and developed new strategies for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions. Prabakar has been breaking barriers both social and scientific throughout her life. She was the first woman to receive a doctorate in applied physics from California Institute of Technology and later led the National Institute of Standards at age 34.
