$46 Million Federal Funding Approved for Wetland Conservation Projects Across 17 States, Boosting Migratory Bird Habitats.

The Migratory Bird Conservation Commission has approved over $46 million in federal funding for projects intended to conserve or restore tens of thousands of acres of wetland and associated upland habitat in 17 states. The grants will target 91,425 acres in California’s Central Valley alone. The federal funding will be matched by over $99 million from nonprofit groups and other governments. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland said the grants will preserve essential habitats for migratory birds and enhance local economies through recreational opportunities.
